Weaving the Past and Present

for a Thriving Future

The Ahipoutu Collective empowers rangatahi, whānau, and communities by weaving together traditional and contemporary Toi Māori.

Through practices like tā-moko, whakairo, and pūrakau, we blend ancient wisdom with modern creativity, fostering cultural growth, healing and connection.

Toi Māori Design

At The Ahipoutu Collective, we offer a comprehensive Toi Māori design service, weaving cultural narratives into bespoke art. Our process is grounded in mātauranga Māori and whakawhiti kōrero (consultation), ensuring that every design is a reflection of the people, places, and stories it represents. Whether creating physical artworks or digital renderings, our mahi honours the unique essence of the client, community, and environment.

Tā Moko

The focus of our mahi in this space is to reinstate our traditional rites of passage in a modern time with an emphasis on moko kauae, matatūhua and pūhoro. We provide wānanga to educate and support our people to embark on the journey of reclaiming their traditional birthright of moko.

Toi & Wellbeing Programmes

At The Ahipoutu Collective, we offer transformative Toi and Wellbeing Programmes that draw on mātauranga Māori, toi Māori, Māori pedagogies, and evidence-based research. These programmes can be delivered on a living papakāinga—ancestral lands where the environment and stories of our tūpuna (ancestors) shape the learning experience. Through hands-on engagement with indigenous knowledge and practices, people reconnect with themselves, their communities, and the natural world around them.

What people are saying about us...

I had an amazing experience. I was nervous art first and didn't know what I wanted. After having a chat, I felt incredibly comfortable, VERY pleased with the design, and I was able to learn the journey that was being put on my skin. Absolutely impressed, and I recommend going to Ahipoutu Collective.
